Corrine pastel study from Troy studio 11

Well I started this at the Troy Studio 11 with Joanne Radmilovich Kollman and then didn't have time to finish because I'm a slow poke . I took it home and worked on it some more. I think it could be more extreme and that might be fun to explore.

On my easel today is a road in Scappoose Oregon. Or near there. Found some paper at the art store that I thought was pretty cool. Takes the pastels well. This is not a great photo but I am happy with the trees. I should go back into it and work a little bit more. I'm liking the Great American Art Works pastels. www.greatpastels.com/

Brush and Pallette life drawing session https://brushandpallette.

Went to Brush and Pallette the Creative Arts building to day in Gladstone and we worked on our model. This is the first pass for me and next week I'll work on it some more. It was good to see Diane back and Za Vue with her water based oil paints. I need to put the flower in her hair next week. The piece I'm working on is kind of big so it's loose. Za Was very supportive. https://brushandpallette.

pear on a pitcher. pastels.

Thursday, January 14, 2016

Well I don't think it's going to take me 30 days to figure out that doing quick one day paintings is a good thing. Kind of like fast food or drive by stuff. Although I do think it's good for doing a study of what you are thinking about painting to a larger extent. Why not take a piece of paper or board and some colors and take it to the spot you are thinking about painting and spend a hour or two looking at the colors and composition of what you want to paint and do a small study which is what these pieces ended up being.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

this is day #12 of the 30 paintings in thirty day challenge. Since I was thinking about doing this composition on a bigger scale I decided to do a study on a smaller scale. I might revisit this composition on a heavier paper and make it bigger but it was good to do a study before I actually committed to a bigger piece. All in all this challenge has been a good discipline for me.
